People who argue that L is smarter than Light, or vice versa, miss the depth of Death Note. The show isn’t about IQ it’s about two equally brilliant minds using their intelligence in different ways. L excels in deduction, logic, and uncovering the truth. He pieces together clues and gets close to catching Kira using reasoning alone. Light excels in strategy, manipulation, and planning ahead. He predicts others’ actions and uses the Death Note creatively to control outcomes. Their rivalry shows that neither can truly outsmart the other. Light only “wins” because of supernatural help, not superior intellect. L and Light are equals L represents logic, Light represents strategy. Anyone who claims one is smarter probably didn’t grasp the full psychological depth of their battle.

Speed :

L was raised and trained for years at Wammy’s House while Light just stumbled upon a random notebook. Not to mention the age gap with L being 25 and Light only 17, Light still managed to outsmart L. L had undergone years of training from childhood to adulthood but Light with no prior experience or preparation depended only on his natural intellect to defeat someone who had been molded to become a genius his entire life.
