A tough decision that had to be made… The biggest question the last year after graduating from college has been “why haven’t I turned professional?” That’s genuinely a great question and it’s one I’ve battled with for a long time. There’s a few reasons why I haven’t turn professional just yet. 1. Being honest with myself. If I don’t feel like I am at the level of a professional golfer, why would I do it? The last year or so of tournament play, qualifying and events I have averaged 73.5 with lots of life lessons on the course and amazing experiences I would never go through anywhere else. When I play casually, with buddies and on my own my stats are completely different averaging 70.8 which is exactly where I want to be in tournament play to turn professional. With this, I want to be shooting these scores in tournaments and events in order to feel comfortable being a “professional golfer.” 2. Finances. Although I would love to play in every single qualifier and event possible it’s just not in my budget. If I was to play in every qualifier that I wanted to it would be close to $100,000 including all fees (event, travel, food, lodging, equipment, etc.). Like I mentioned in a previous video, one qualifier costs about $500-$1500 depending on location. Transparently, this is all happening from revenue created through social media, partnerships and programs I run. It definitely adds up over time with no financial backing but I wouldn’t want it any other way! 3. US Amateur. One of my biggest goals since starting competitive golf has been to make the US Amateur. The most prestigious tournament outside of professional golf. With turning professional I would lose the ability to qualify and play in this amazing event. I will be trying to qualify in June of this year and looking to make a run to Hazeltine in Minnesota. No matter where God lead’s me the grind is real. Pushing myself in all aspect of the game, business and building relationships with people all of the world is all I can ask for. This next year will be nonstop. Full of events, premiering a brand new show & brand, and most of all bringing more athletes into golf. And I’m so excited to bring you guys along! #golf #fyp #golftiktok
