I'm in the UK and most super markets use this system, you can get a "trolly token" that's the right shape but comes on a keyring, so it's on your keys and you don't forget/lose it.

A tip as an ex Aldi worker the little keys on things like canned ham that you use to wind open the can fit perfectly into the coin slots we would use them when we need to grab one of the trolleys to help an elderly or disable customer and they are so flat they take up barely any room in your wallet or phone case
