@sheltie_fidget: 🚨Walmart is NOT Pet Friendly, Here’s Why🚨 * Back in April, I posted a video from my body camera showing a pet inside Walmart, which is not a pet-friendly store. I didn’t initially see the dog because the owner had stepped away from the cart, but now that the video has gone viral, I’m answering the three most common questions I keep getting.👇 * 1️⃣ “If you didn’t see the dog, how’d you grab your phone so fast?” I didn’t. I use a body camera for legal protection. My service dogs have been attacked multiple times in public by pets that shouldn’t be there. Recording helps keep both my dog and me safe and provides evidence when things go wrong. * 2️⃣ “Some Walmarts are pet friendly.” No, they’re not. No Walmart is pet friendly because they sell food and must comply with FDA Health Code 6-501.115, which states live animals are not allowed in food establishments unless they are service animals. * 3️⃣ “How do you know that wasn’t a service dog?” Because of the behavior of both the dog and the owner. • The dog was in a cart, which violates both Walmart policy and FDA codes. Walmart’s policy clearly states: “Service animals are not permitted in shopping carts or on the conveyor belts.” • The owner ran back to the cart and covered the dog’s head, which is a red flag that the dog might have reacted poorly. • Legitimate service dog handlers don’t hide their dogs, and trained service dogs don’t ride in carts in grocery stores. • Also, in New Jersey, distracting or interfering with a service animal is a crime under N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3.2. * Bringing your pet into a grocery store is not just against the rules, it’s unsafe and unsanitary. It puts service dogs and their handlers at risk and violates health codes meant to protect everyone. * Please stop bringing your pets into Walmart.
