Lift-offs are a great way to tap into end-range strength for any joint. They can be painful if you already have shoulder pain, though. If that is the case for you, comment “Shoulder” and we will send you an email series that has stretches, massages, and strength/mobility exercises to help reduce your pain.  
This work will help you build strength and mobility into shoulder flexion, but there is only so much that it can do. 
 If your thoracic spine is quite rounded, then the thoracic spine will also need some mobility. I posted a series of exercises last week that focuses on improving thoracic flexion and extension.  If you have limited thoracic extension, you will compensate by flaring your ribs open in order to get your shoulder into flexion. Sound like you?
