Really, interesting? I've been wondering why so many people are converting to Islam. I read a woman saying that Islam is the only religion with a Black person in a leading role during the movement and that Islam openly promotes equality before God. And I must admit as a black person that it gave me a sense of belonging and I also heard Islam is the only religion that makes it mandatory to help the less privileged, please if there is any Muslim in the house let me know if this is true, I am trying to learn about the religion.

Why was Mary called “O sister of Aaron” in the Qur’an, and what did the Prophet say about it? In the Qur’an (Surah Maryam 19:28), Maryam (Mary) is called “O sister of Aaron.” This does not mean she is the biological sister of Prophet Aaron (the brother of Moses). Instead, in Arabic and in the ancient Semitic languages, people were often called “brother” or “sister” of a righteous person or a famous ancestor to show connection, lineage, or similarity in piety. Maryam came from a priestly and righteous family, the family of Imran, the same name as the father of Moses and Aaron. So “sister of Aaron” means: “O woman from the lineage, tradition, or righteousness of Aaron.” --- The Hadith that explains this When some Christians from Najran questioned this verse, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) clarified: The Prophet said: > “They used to name themselves after their prophets and righteous people who came before them.” (Sahih Muslim) This means it was normal for people to be called “brother of so-and-so” or “sister of so-and-so” as a title of respect or because they belonged to that family line. --- Summary “O sister of Aaron” is a cultural and linguistic expression, not a literal sibling relationship. Maryam belonged to a righteous lineage connected to Aaron. The Prophet explained that people were often named after earlier righteous figures.

The verse “O sister of Aaron! Your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste” (Maryam 19:28) was spoken when Mary returned to her people carrying baby Jesus. They were astonished and accused her of wrongdoing, reminding her that she came from a virtuous family. The phrase “O sister of Aaron” does not mean that Aaron was her biological brother; rather, Aaron was a pious man from her community, and they called her his “sister” because she resembled him in devotion and purity. It was thus a form of moral comparison, not an indication of blood relation, and the Aaron mentioned is not Aaron the brother of Moses.

To clarify, Mary (peace be upon her) did not have any brothers named Aaron. Rather, she was called the sister of Aaron because she worked in the Temple in Jerusalem, and all those who worked there were males or men, and they were called Aaron in reference to the Prophet Aaron (peace be upon him).
