That is a perfect example of an election. People vote against their interests because they don’t understand what the question says or research before they vote. This is an amazing lesson. Please do a midterm election to see if they changed their actions.

you should do another election, and in the next election make the wording confusing so that they learn that they have to take the time to understand what they are voting for and not leave it to the same day, because the wording is confusing on purpose!

#1 - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take this lesson all the way and teach them about HOW they can inform themselves on the outcomes of the measures on the ballots using reliable sources. #2 - If anyone has resources that you’ve used in the past, please reply and share them here so that we can make it as easy as possible for teachers to inform our future generations. Don’t forget to add your state. #3 - Please share the lesson plan in a Google doc so other teachers can implement this is they choose to do so. THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS!!!!!!!

It’s interesting because this also shows that even as teenagers they’re only voting for things that that impact them. For example the guy who voted no against donuts voted no because he didn’t like donuts and didn’t consider others may enjoy donuts and it’s a benefit for the greater good even if you won’t use it

this says so much about our society. votes no for donuts not bcuz everyone else will enjoy them but bcuz he himself doesn't like donuts. and people get lazy by the last few and just guess. this is why our society sucks and everyone just complains while doing nothing to improve it.
