Four men arrive, carrying their paralyzed friend, but because of the crowd, they tear open the roof and lower him before Jesus. Moved by their faith, Jesus first forgives the man’s sins, which shocks the scribes who question His authority in their hearts. Perceiving their thoughts, Jesus asks which is easier—to forgive sins or to heal—and then proves His divine power by commanding the paralyzed man to rise, take up his mat, and walk.
