Secretary Tourism, Archaeology & Museums Department, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, visited Nadra Begum’s Tomb, Iqbal Manzil, and the Tomb of Ali Mardan, where he was given a detailed briefing on ADP schemes for 2025–26. Secretary Tourism was accompanied by the DG Archaeology, SDO C&W, Deputy Director PHA, Archaeology Consultant and Malik Hassan. During the visit, updates were shared on the restoration and preservation plan for Nadra Begum’s Tomb, proposed schemes and progress at Iqbal Manzil and the ongoing conservation works at the Tomb of Ali Mardan. Dr. Ehsan Bhutta instructed the inclusion of digital storytelling at Javed Manzil to present history and heritage in a modern way, directed PHA officials to ensure proper landscaping at Ali Mardan’s Tomb and tasked C&W with drainage and pathway works around the site. The rehabilitation of Nadra Begum Tomb’s walls were assigned to the Directorate of Archaeology. Expressing concern over the graffiti on Nadra Begum’s Tomb, Secretary tourism directed the Archaeology team to restore the walls to their original state through chemical treatment, stressing that maintaining authenticity in heritage conservation remains a top priority. He highlighted that the digital documentation of national heritage will serve as a valuable asset for future generations, while timely completion of development schemes will mark a new era of tourism in Punjab. Emphasizing the global significance of preserving heritage alongside promoting tourism, Dr. Ehsab Bhutta further instructed the DG Archaeology and TDCP to work in close coordination as one team, ensuring both preservation of historic assets and effective strategies to attract tourists.
