@itsaflavorfullife: Three meal a day stans where you at!?!? đĢĄđĢĄđĢĄ No because tell me why I am sometimes lowkey embarrassed that I eat three meals a day. đ¤¯ Hereâs my dietitian PSA of the day. Itâs NOT A FLEX to have an iced coffee for breakfast and a protein bar and vibes for lunch. People are going to misconstrue this message and come at me with âoh must be nice to sit down, Iâm too busyâ. And listen, I see you, I feel you, I hear you. I also consider myself an irrationally busy person. But hereâs an unpopular truth. We all have time for what we make a priority. đ¤ˇđģââī¸ So I totally get that some days are a protein bar on the fly. But Iâm not talking about those days, Iâm talking about most days. A hormone called insulin spikes after you eat, so if youâre looking to improve your post-meal blood sugar response and improve long-term insulin sensitivity (important for all people, not just those with diabetes), consider how MANY times you are eating throughout the day, not just WHAT youâre eating. Giving your body a time to ârest and digestâ in between meals is really important! Iâm not saying snacks are bad or that I never snack. Thatâs not the case at all. If you need a snack you should absolutely eat a snack. The point Iâm trying to make is about being mindful and intentional at meals, as well as prioritizing ENOUGH food and balance. Some people, like women with insulin resistance for example, benefit a lot from eating something every 3 hours. So snacking is not always a bad thing! đ
