I don't listen to Billie but I do like the song- however, I would quote YMS saying "I don't like that you can win an Oscar for Best Original Song when it's just a Billie Eilish song you could find on one of her B-sides"

One of my issues with it and this didn’t occur to me until someone mentioned it, but there was not a single indigenous Barbie in the film… there’s been several indigenous Barbies throughout the brand’s history. Hell… just a few years ago they released a fashionista doll that’s specifically indigenous. Like what? Not even an Inuit Barbie was included.

I feel like dua and the producers had more of a challenge as well. The scene was already completed and they had to create the song to fit exactly with the timing of the song, moves of the actors, and the plot!! That is not easy

I thought i was the only one, i personally didn’t like it, (i loved the meaning behind it but not the execution) i felt like the storyline was all over the place and i was confused the entire time like for example in the human world it didn’t feel like the human world ( it was to wacky and it just felt like they were still in barbie land) also the mum and the daughters rough relationship… i felt like it was just put in there to have some conflict bc the mum and the daughter made up like in 5 seconds but like also what was the conflict in the first place? And also the mum immediately believing barbie was real felt sooo idk rushed. i thought it was gonna be more like that Tyra Banks movie “ life size” but without the romance yk and idk i was a confused most of the type by the storyline 🌸

Not to sound like Gina Rodriguez right now but it would’ve been a better movie if Stereotypical Barbie was a black woman/WOC. Like, it would’ve added a whole new layer of context and nuance to the point it was trying to make but I fear Greta doesn’t have the range for that.

I still haven't watched it, I got 20 minutes in and I couldn't. I never wanted to finish it, just seemed very weirdly written. I just was not interested in what was happening so I didn't find out.

Only the first 30 mins were enjoyable to me. I wish it took place more in the Barbie World because it was cute, campy and fun…once we got to human world and critique about Mattel despite them being heavily involved because it’s their movie made me so annoyed 😒 like what was the end game here?

I think because their budget necessitated it being a 4 quadrant movie meaning it had to have a very wide appeal, they sacrificed making a precise feminist point to make a general statement. idk a friend to everyone is a friend no one
