gahh.. probably my favorite stage 💜 just incase you didn't know, babies harness is really loose here, its common to need to remove the harness pads when they're so tiny, remove then, then buckle baby like normal, move the chest clip all the way down to the crotch buckle, gather all the slack from the hips and get it above the chest clip, then, with your thumb and index/middle finger, pinch the harness at the shoulder, like you're pinching salt, and tighten just until the slack slips from your fingers. this is called the reverse pinch test but it guarantees the harness is tight enough without being too tight (who knew that was even possible?) then move the chest clip back up so the top is inline with babies arm pits. remember, the harness should always come from below babies shoulder when rear facing! if it comes from above, baby is able to slide up in the seat and if it's too loose, the concern is they could be ejected from the seat in an accident. remember that the protective position for a newborns airway is when they are ear to shoulder, it looks super uncomfortable but it's actually the safest position they can be in, in a carseat until they have head control. just watch out for chin to chest, that is a position that compromises their airway and can lead to positional asphyxiation! congrats! soak it all up!
