King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev (1945-2001) was the last monarch of Nepal. He was the eldest son of King Mahendra and Queen Indra and was born on December 28, 1945, at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace in Kathmandu. Birendra's early education took place in Nepal, but he later attended St. Joseph's College in Darjeeling and Eton College in the United Kingdom. He also studied at Tokyo University and Harvard University. In 1972, following the death of his father, King Mahendra, Birendra ascended to the Nepalese throne at the age of 27. His coronation took place in 1975. King Birendra's reign was marked by a commitment to modernizing Nepal while preserving its cultural heritage. He introduced various political and economic reforms and advocated for social justice and sustainable development. However, he also faced challenges such as political unrest and a growing Maoist insurgency. Tragically, King Birendra, along with most of his immediate family, was killed in a massacre at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace on June 1, 2001. His son, Dipendra, was initially declared the new king but later died from his injuries, leading to the ascension of Birendra's brother, Gyanendra. The massacre marked the end of the Shah dynasty's rule in Nepal. Queen Aishwarya Rajya Lakshmi Devi Shah (1949-2001) was the Queen of Nepal from 1972 to 2001. She was the wife of King Birendra and the mother of King Dipendra, Prince Nirajan, and Princess Shruti. Born into the powerful Rana family, which had ruled Nepal for over a century, Aishwarya was educated at St. Helen's Convent in Kurseong, India, and St. Mary's School in Jawalakhel, Nepal. She later graduated with an arts degree from Padmakanya College in Kathmandu. In 1970, Aishwarya married Crown Prince Birendra, her second cousin. Following the death of King Mahendra in 1972, Birendra ascended to the throne, making Aishwarya the Queen of Nepal. Their coronation took place in 1975. Queen Aishwarya was known for her elegance and style, often setting trends in fashion and hairstyles. She was also actively involved in social and cultural programs, promoting education and healthcare initiatives. Tragically, Queen Aishwarya, along with her husband and most of her family, was killed in a massacre at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace on June 1, 2001. #kingbirendra #queenaishwarya🇳🇵#hinduism #helicopter #nepalmonarchy #kingdomofnepal #hindumonarchy #monarch #old #nostalgic #royalcouples #royalpalace #tredning #photo #viral #fypシ #goviral #nepal
