I just think the pacing is WAY too fast. Like please slow the fuck down and build up your foundations instead of rushing. For example cherry bomb and sir pentious’s romance had no room to breath and I found it hard to attach to the characters before the finale of season 1. Things just happen and then get solved

For examples, the latest one seems to be the whole twist that "Lucifer cant harm sinners". Which at least to me is very disappointing mainly because I was looking forward seeing Lucifer humble certain people. The justification for this is that Hazbin's Lucifer is just "not like other lucifers". And I just have to accept that. Its incredibly underwhelming and ridiculous that the King of Hell....is essentially useless. How has he remained in power for centuries if he cant harm anyone😅

I think personally it is written as well as most animated shows just people say it’s badly written because it doesn’t fit with what they want the show to be about or its themes or something else yet if they just say that they personally don’t mesh with the show then they feel like that means something is wrong with them so they push it onto the show and just say bad writing

I wouldn’t say it’s badly written. But it has some issues here and there. Like the world building is a bit inconsistent, the pacing (at least for season 1) is pretty bad, and a lot of the humor kind of falls flat for me

For me, in simplified terms, it's when things don't add up. Like, if I have to ask "But, why though?" in regards to the actions/motivations of characters or how the world works so often that it becomes distracting. This is, of course, not the same as disagreeing with the actions of said characters or the lore choices, but rather the lack of time given to establishing what their reasoning is.

i have my gripes with writing choices for this show that are too wordy to leave here but there’s a tendency for people to just slap on “BAD WRITING” and not examine that further and that’s frustrating. obviously SOMETHING about the writing works or it wouldn’t have an audience. but people are very eager to hate this show (and viv) and refuse to see that even something with flaws can have merits. kind of ironic considering the point of the show

Everyone has their own interpretation of “bad writing” but for me I don’t hate the show and I also think it’s not that great. In Helluva the characters are decent but the plot is inconsistent. In Hazbin Hotel the plot is consistent but some of the characters are not written well. I also know it’s not entirely on the creators. Amazon or whoever did them dirty with only giving them 8 episodes so I understand why they’re trying to cram so much information and rushing everything. Overall I agree that most of the hate is unnecessary

I honestly think that the ONLY issue is its 8 episodes. they're shoving alot in 8 episodes. I also dont watch it constantly from a critical perspective and just watch to enjoy it.

The problem is the pacing, but that’s what happens when you’re only given 8 25-min episodes per season. When people say “bad writing” a lot of times they mean “the events of the show aren’t lining up to my personal headcanon”

Media literacy is slowly crashing most folks struggle with reading between the lines and if it isn't spelled out for them they won't clue in Iv seen this over and over again 💀and sadly hazbin has a lot of you need to guess and keep watching to find out clues a lot of folks don't do that anymore

For me i think if there was more time to explore characters it would be a better show. But because amazon and A24 it’s budget constraints and small amount of episodes given to it. There’s not enough time to give characters their moments without derailing the plot a little. Now is this just a hazbin issue no. I don’t think Hazbin is a bad show either. It’s just not great. It’s just good, ok even. And that’s fine there are plenty flaws to the show, and i’m sick and tired of Hazbin getting all this hate for something every show throughout time has done which is not be perfect. People act as if shows don’t have this issue all the time to mediocre characters dialogue in many live action shows to the extremely unnecessary amount of fan service in anime. All of these things make shows imperfect and some is worse then other but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a show and liking a show doesn’t give this sort of moral or immoral status that people seem to put on each other.

all in all i like the show. that said the plot of season 1 with them having to find out how to hurt angels was stupid. vaggie, a literal angel who has been hurt by angelic weapons doesnt know angelic weapons hurts angels. thats bad writing.

It has to do with characterization, from what I've seen. The show itself is very different from the pilot, and because the creator of the series is fairly new to TV show production, some ideas aren't fully developed in season 1 and so we learn things about characters in season 2 that make them seem quite different than how we thought of them in season 1. OR someone pointed out that she made a mistake, and she listened to that feedback and certain characters are slightly different in season 2. But personally, the main thing I've been seeing, is either casual watchers not understanding a character's behavior in particular episode and having a strong reaction to that, or being upset that certain characters are not good people, or they found certain scenes to be played for laughs when that may not have been the intention of the writer. even critics that I otherwise respect can have blind spots when it comes to some of the heavier subject matter that this show handles, and because a character doesn't act the way that they think the character should, suddenly it's bad writing.
