@garyvee: This is a convo we need to have with our children when 88% of them say to us that this is what “they want” it will help them critically think about “whys” instead of taking thing on surface level, I really hope this helps some parents tonight ❣️❣️❣️💛
mind you there's a difference between discipline and abuse

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve said endlessly that I don’t like other people‘s kids. Turns out, it’s not the kids I have a problem with; it’s their parents.

Find a balance of discipline and letting them feel the consequences of their own decision. Both are excellent teachers.

Parents are way too worried about their kids liking them and being their friend now. I constantly tell my kids that I’m not their friend. I’ll be their friend when they’re thriving adults after I’m done raising them.

And this is why my child thinks I’m a jerk. I am trying to raise and correct my GenZ employees. I set boundaries and it blows their MIND.

It’s because we were basically beat as children, threatened etc. that we tried to correct that behavior. It’s bitting us bc we took it to far.

Gen X here, I punished them, made them get jobs, gave them no $, if they wanted it, they had to earn $ to buy it. This is how I grew up. My girls will be successful.

As a substitute teacher this is absolutely true - we spend about 80% of our time parenting the kids’ behavior instead of teaching them

My children never got punished. Of course, we were a very close family. Totally into their sports, their education, we did everything together. Hiking, vacations. Their friends just walked in the house. They were over achievers. The very little they did wrong, the consequences were far more severe than I could do to them. I didn’t want my kids being scared of what “I” was going to do to them, I wanted them to be afraid of doing the wrong thing because of the real world consequences. Or because it went against their moral center. I guided them to make mistakes, but not so that I could punish them. So they could learn

And because the parents don’t discipline or punish the teachers in the classroom can’t either it’s very sad

Hell are you talking all these parents. I punish my kids and the result show when their teachers praise how well behaved they are.

No routines and boundaries I actually think causes mental health problems, not being able to regulate emotions and feelings. Kids need to be told no.

the hardest thing about being a parent and disciplining our children. it takes work and looking within yourself if you're doing it right

Not related to this, how does your wife deal with your 2E mentality? I need some advice! We just discovered my boyfriend has this and I need to understand how to support him.
