The real reason was innovation failure and fear of change. The core problem was Kodak refused to destroy their old business to create a new one. If you don’t disrupt yourself, someone else will.

Kodak killed Kodak. It wasn’t the internet or what it could do. Same with the previous commentor. Kodak’s lack of innovation and fear of swaying away from what works. The engineer that invented the digital camera, who was Kodak employee moved to Sony and the whole digital camera / digital photography happened. By the time Kodak entered the picture they were playing catch up.
