Genuine question but can u wear non reef safe sunscreen in water that doesn’t contain reefs? Is reef safe like a “buzzword” that just means safe for wildlife or just safe for reefs?

I was the only kid in my S.Fla. Beach loving family that wasn’t fair, with freckles and Blue eyes. I turned brown while they blistered. My Grandmother who passed at 96, only put Zinc on the kids!! (The white kind 👻) She never believed the newer Sunscreens were good for the Body or the Ocean!! 🌊 🏝️♥️🥰

The association between chemical sunscreen damaging coral reefs is minimal and limited. The major reason for coral reef death is climate change, ocean acidification, and untreated waste water. Also, the process of mining for zinc and purifying zinc is a very dirty process.
