Honestly without the context of the comic Shroud feels like he is missing a lot of character development in the main game and just comes off as a villain being a villain for the sake of being a villain.

Roberts dad had a point. his actions were brutal, but I think he was trying to teach his son to be a hero. mark (invincible) did not now what it was like being a hero so in his first fight he was beaten and an old lady died in his hands because he did not expect the fight to be this brutal. Roberts dad wanted to teach shroud and Robert that when they are out fighting bad guys they will get badly hurt and injured and they need to learn to get back up and Continue fighting or they will fail and people will die that's why Robert loved and admired his dad he understood what his dad wanted to teach him.
