Mulan challenge: extra credits  Part 1  Here you guys get to see behind the scenes of my climb a bit. My boyfriend Colby was a big part of my success for this challenge. It was an immense motivator having somebody make the effort to show up JUST to see me win. My pride wouldn’t let me lose in front of somebody else. If I were alone, it would be much easier to say “fuck it, next time” because I’m wasting my own time & not somebody else’s.  Here you also get to hear me speak about climbing strategy.  Some of you had pointed out that maybe the pole was slippery because of the snow, and you were right! The moisture created some sort of moss that made my sports wrap (on my forearms and feet for extra grip) slicker the longer I stayed on that pole. AKA, the higher I got, the less grip I had.  Affirmations: they’re positive things you tell yourself everyday, preferably right as you wake up but you can also say them when you need more confidence, like when you’re anxious etc. I only got up this pole when I started saying those affirmations, and when I was about to have a panic attack near the top of the pole bc I saw how high I was, I had to start yelling the affirmations. It’s like drowning out your anxious/ negative inner voice with a positive one.
