The Carpenters- Close To You- 1970📍 Written by the team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, "(They Long to Be) Close to You" was first recorded by the actor Richard Chamberlain in 1963 with an orchestral arrangement; he released it as the B-side of his single "Blue Guitar." Next to record it was Dionne Warwick, whose 1964 version wasn't released as a single. A few others took a crack at it as well, but it wasn't a hit until the Carpenters got to it in 1970. Their version, with an understated vocal by Karen Carpenter and a trumpet solo in the middle, was a #1 hit for four weeks. You'll be hard-pressed to find a song that praises someone as effusively as this one. Witness: On the day that you were born the angels got together And decided to create a dream come true That's a lot to live up to! Burt Bacharach and Hal David hadn't written many hits when Richard Chamberlain recorded the first version of this song in 1963, but over the next few years they went on a roll with songs like "What the World Needs Now Is Love" (Jackie DeShannon) and "I Say a Little Prayer" (Dionne Warwick). They also wrote Herb Alpert's 1968 #1 hit "This Guy's In Love With You," and a year later, Bacharach asked him to try his hand on "(They Long to Be) Close to You." Alpert didn't feel comfortable with the lyrical content - "Moondust in your hair" - and instead produced a new arrangement for the Carpenters, who were signed to his label, A&M Records. Bacharach clearly believed in the song and was determined to find the right artist for it.
Pumpkin spice baked donuts with pumpkin spice glaze 🍂 recipe below: Ingredients 🧈 For the donuts: - 120g melted butter - 1 tablespoon vanilla extract - 150g sugar - 2 large eggs at room temperature - 200g cake flour - 200g pumpkin puree - Spices: 5g ground ginger, 10g ground cinnamon, 2.5g ground cloves, 2.5g ground nutmeg, a pinch of ground cardamom, and a pinch of salt - 10g baking powder - 1 pinch of salt For the glaze: - 120g pumpkin puree - 60g powdered sugar - A pinch or teaspoon of flavor of your choice, optional (crushed cardamom seeds, cinnamon powder, vanilla extract) - 1 tablespoon of milk to dilute the glaze if necessary Instructions 📝 For the donuts: In a large bowl, whisk together the sifted flour, baking powder, spices and salt. Set aside. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until the mixture is smooth. Add the melted butter, vanilla extract, and pumpkin puree and whisk until it is completely incorporated. Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients, and gently mix one last time until the mixture is homogeneous. Transfer the dough to a piping bag, then cut the end and fill the donut mold, filling about halfway. You can also simply use a spoon to fill the mold if you prefer. Bake in the oven at 180°C for about 20 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean. Flip the mold onto a cooling rack, and the donuts should come out easily! For the glaze: In a bowl, add the pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, and whisk. You can add more or less powdered sugar depending on the desired thickness of the glaze. If the glaze becomes too thick, you can add 1 tablespoon of milk to dilute it. Dip the donuts in the glaze while they are still warm and enjoy! #tiktokfood #bake #donuts #fall #autumn #FoodTok
