@birthwithbex: Knowing when to head to hospital isn’t just about the 5-1-1 rule (contractions every 5 minutes, lasting 1 minute and sustained for 1 hour). Your body gives you other cues - you just need to know what to look out for! Most women feel more confident once they tune into their rhythm, their focus and their need for support. These are the cues that often reveal when labour is shifting from early labour to active labour. ⚠️ Of course, there are medical reasons you may be advised to head in earlier - like reduced movements, your waters breaking, you want early access to pain relief or you have any concerns about your or your baby’s wellbeing. What I’ve shared here applies generally, but always follow professional advice in light of your own personal circumstances.
