You guys are tripping. A monkey would beat magnus if given infinite time.

In 2 games you’d be out: first one to get beaten by Magnus, second one to repeat Magnus’s moves from the first game and go on to win.

Like a week, just chat him up randomly to get him to reveal more and more intimate things until he believes you are a wizard. This is the plot to groundhog day

assuming you dont age? theoretically at least several lifetimes. youd have to learn chess theory and lines from JUST playing him, no books, no internet. maybe three lifetimes is a fair answer considering the average person isnt a generational chess mind

10^123 assuming worst case scenario to guess the perfect move and there are 80 moves in a match using a tree order there are 35 possible moves and around 80 moves per game so 35^80

Why are the comments so unimaginative? This is like, live, die, repeat with lower stakes and more obvious choices. If it took a normal person more than a day of their time to win i'd be surprised; you know exactly what magnus will do when you make a move--of course you can win with rewinds of every move. Anyone whp disagrees thinks too highly of magnus, or chess.

not that long if you do the same game over and over. meaning you keep your opening the same and then try from there to beat him

none of you understand chess. you are never wining in this situation. there is no oh i will memorize the lines until i see magnus’s pattern. he plays the best move or one of the best moves in response to yours. he’s not simply playing a theoretical line

Play the fastest you can, ask for the blunder you made, eventually he will lose because he will run out of time or he will make a blunder himself, around 40 games, if there is no time than much more than that

People are making it to complex, Magnus is a human being so he must have patterns you don’t need to learn every chess move all you have to do is learn Magnus moves would take a long time but not as long as expected

Benjamin Rumpel :
If you can switch between white and black and it’s a timed game this would take a bit but you are pretty much 100% guaranteed to win, you can just play both sides of the board and use his responses as your own on the other side of the board, as long as you avoid early forced draws the game will eventually turn into Magnus vs Magnus with an entire opening, middle game, and end game pre prepped, either you will win on time or he will blunder against himself and you can let him find the advantage for you

the only way you'll ever beat him is if you're either very good yourself (Super GM) then you might pull it off in 20 ISH games or if you involve some kind of foul play like cheating or making Magnus drink until he's hammered before the game (which isn't a far fetched option)
