It’s the community you get from being part of a church (or any other place of worship). it seems to be special and rare to get it from anywhere else these days.

It’s a combination of having blind faith all will be well and having community! That’s why they look so happy

I’m an atheist, Though I’ve always wished I did grow up somewhat religious due to the rituals and traditions and community focus. But I just don’t believe in God, not a bit. Equally I’m sure there are many unhappy religious people.

I didn’t scroll on but I’m not here to convert you!! I guess outside of faith church is a huge sense of community and friendship and I’ve met so many interesting folk at church! I’m sorry… I’ll scroll on now 🤣🤣

I am not particularly religious. But I do envy at times those who are deep in religion as it appears to bring so much comfort when things get hard. Currently having a bad time and wish I had something for comfort

They are happy! And as I get older I'm pulled more towards this as well, especially with all the horrible things happening ❤

I think it's the sense of community and belonging. You only see those that are happy, many people have been psychologically and emotionally damaged by organised religion. I honestly think my lack of belief in God is part of the reason I enjoy life and am a good person. I know it's a brief moment in the sun and nothing else is coming, so I make the most of it. I also treat people with kindness and compassion because I want to, not because I want to earn club card points from God or whoever!

Well, singing out loud, especially in a group, naturally lifts your spirits. Being in a group of like minded people, the community feel, the connection, makes you feel part of something = feeling uplifted. Getting dressed up, making an effort makes us feel good. Also, on the cynical & slightly mean-spirited side, delusion can equal happiness... So yeah, no wonder they all looked happy. Good for them! Its not for me in the slightest but I get why it is for some (Also, every converted religious person I've known has said to me 'I found God at a very low point in my life', So they may have known hard times in the past, that may alsi be part of why they look happy now?)
