I have never had any major surgeries. With my first child I had a vaginal delivery, an epidural and an episiotomy. My 2nd child I had an epidural as well. While pregnant with my 3rd child I practiced hypnobirthing and decided to have her at a birthing center with no meds. By FAR that was the easiest and quickest delivery for me. My 4th child’s arrival was during Covid and I refused to go to a hospital so I carefully selected a midwife and had a water birth at home . About 6 weeks after that delivery, I drove myself to the hospital due to a few symptoms I was experiencing. I had severe neck pain for a week that wouldn’t go away with pain meds but I attributed it to side lying and breastfeeding my newborn . I also had a moment where I felt like I couldn’t swallow along with blurred vision. All of my previous pregnancies, labor, delivery and postpartum periods were free of complications . My Dr literally said he loved “boring” patients like me. When I went to the ER 6 weeks PP with my 4th child, my blood pressure was through the roof and with the help of an MRI they saw I had a vertebral artery dissection. I was admitted into the hospital (baby Yara stayed with me) for 3 days in the stroke unit where they performed many tests, observed me closely and prescribed a few meds to help control my blood pressure. I was released and doing well with my BP meds and continued to take them and successfully breastfed Yara until weaning her at 3 yo. I went back to a DR a few months after my hospital stay and my dissection was completely healed!!! THANK GOD!!! I was also weaned off of the meds summer 2024 and my BP was normal until I got pregnant with my 5th child. Back on the BP meds I went and for the first time ever I was considered HIGH RISK and saw a maternal infant specialist the entire pregnancy. They watched me closely and took great care of baby and I but made me very confident that I could still deliver vaginally based on how my previous deliveries went. At the end of my pregnancy my BP spiked , even with meds and I was scheduled for an induction. I had never been induced and from my research I knew things could get more complicated as my labor progressed. Indeed it did, Yasir’s heart rate started dropping during active labor, my BP was rising and a c section was necessary. Yes, I’m thankful we are both safe but the healing ❤️‍🩹 process was definitely a lot for me compared to healing from a vaginal delivery. Even at 12 weeks PP I’m still trying to mentally process what I experienced. For any mom that can relate , sending you my love , praying for your heart, mind and soul bc it is a lot to deal with. #fyp #MomsofTikTok #momtok #childbirth #deliverydisappointment
