eugenics is a dark and disturbing chapter of history, built on pseudoscience, discrimination, and violence. But I think it’s important to separate that past from what modern genetic medicine is trying to achieve today. Children born with serious genetic conditions often face real suffering throughout their lives and it’s only human to want to reduce that suffering if we can. As technology continues to develop we might eventually be able to use genetic tools not only to prevent serious illnesses but also to improve a child’s overall quality of life. For example, if it became possible and ofc safe to help a child with an IQ of 85 reach a healthier average range, I believe that would be a compassionate and morally responsible choice. This isn’t about "perfecting humanity". It’s simply about giving individuals the chance to live healthier and fuller lives
