You’ve seen the Mike Sonko (former Nairobi Governor) video. A daughter assaulted. A father stepping in. It is painful to watch because it is the reality for so many. We need to name what this is. GBV. Violence. A violation of safety and dignity. And we need to protect those at risk by making sure they know where to turn. If you or someone you know is in danger, reach out to a trusted friend, a neighbour, or a crisis line. Even with the gaps in our justice system, it is still important to file a police report so that a case can be pursued and documented. Survivors deserve safety, support, and justice, and those who cause harm must be held to account through the right channels. Urgently.
