When I’ve worked with editors. It’s a lot of underlining and notes in margins. I’ve never known an editor to re-write passages.

I've had the same editor for 15 years, and he is also my dear friend. He has never rewritten my work for me. He puts suggestions to the side of what I've written if changes need to be made. This AI stuff is absurd to me! It's absolutely awful.

When I edit indie work, not one single bit of the manuscript is entered into AI, ever. It’s completely unneeded. And any larger rewrite recommendations are made via a comment so the author has full autonomy over their finished product. I would only ever do large rewrites myself if the author specifically requested it, and even then I would mark it for their ultimate review. This is wild.

The best thing to do now 😒 is if you self-publishing just try to get as many eyes as you can on it and just do a proofread 😒 because at the end of the day the likelihood of this book selling more than maybe 19 copies is quite small

I simply do critique work for other authors.. and I don’t even rewrite others work. I may rearrange sentances or show them how to rearrange their flow. But rewriting passages??!?! Wild.

I have something to add. I work as a magazine editor for a mile manufacturing industry. I wrote companies news items; e.g. if someone gets promoted, a company releases a new product, etc. I can’t tell you how many companies send me PR that is all AI. Even industry leaders that have been in the business for 20+ years use AI in opinion pieces

🤣 i literally hired a Ghostwriter 🤣 and he used AI and gave me a disaster 🤣 cuz the funny thing about it is is I could have used chat gbt myself to write the book and save the money 🤣😂🤣

If I paid to have someone edit something I’ve poured this many hours into, and they returned it after feeding it through AI and editing with AI, I think I would commit crimes.
