Gunner had a successful surgery, and here are the results!!!! Dont watch if you’re really squeamish, there isn’t any blood but you can see where he lost half his hoof. He needed to have surgical debridement of both left feet, but he’s doing great. Now comes the difficult part, we have to change his bandages every other day to make sure the infection doesn’t return. He has canker which has a high reoccurrence rate if not treated very aggressively, and even then it could come back. He is getting use to the routine and so are we. We have a long road ahead for his recovery and good regrowth but we are all so hopeful 🙏🏻 Thank you for making this possible for him. The “owner” is still fighting for the healthy horses back. Which honestly there aren’t any. These poor horses ranged from needing euthanasia on the day they were seized to need extensive surgery like this and everything in between. Our partner rescue in this case Fighting Chance Rescue 501 c3 took on all of the horses and are still caring for the rest! It’s atrocious the way these horses have been kept and treated and that this man has been allowed to get away with this for YEARS. Laws around animal cruelty need to change and harsher punishments need to be administered for offenders. The animals have no one to protect them but us.
