I get the hate, but what I like is they’re keeping the legacy, and rock, alive. No “tribute” band would garner the publicity. There are also no new rock bands taking up the gauntlet of rock. Where are the new bands that would be all over FM radio if the music industry worked the way it did 30+ years ago? Rock must live on and these guys are keeping it alive🤘🏻

I feel like it only works on bands that have already replaced members with younger members over the years. Like Metallica can’t just swap out for 4 new people one day and say “this is now Metallica”

So, I disagree with you – Lynyrd Skynyrd has released tons of albums with various members of the current lineup, and some of them are quite good! And they play some of those songs live. The fact that the band has slowly evolved and I think it’s a valid expression of the band.

yep Paul Stanley said they sold all the rights to the KISS brand for 300 mil. a live touring version of some form or some kind will continue after they are gone

We should just let bands die, so new artists can make a name for themselves. Once no original members/people who wrote songs with the band(in a time frame that can reasonably be assumed their heyday) are left, they lose the IP for touring/merch and are advertised/designated as a cover band

Look up the Glenn Miller Orchestra. They’ve been doing this since the 40’s. Or look up zombie bands on rolling stone. Just saying this isn’t the future because it’s already been happening for years.
