It would, IF the relationship is merely transactional. But if the relationship is personal and love is the basis, then no. My kids know I love them. By the logic, it would be absurd for me to tell them, since they know. But I tell them often because sharing our hearts matter in our relationship. I also relate to God as Father :)

No. Part of faith is the humility and understanding that you need help. Prayer does that. thus reaffirming his hand on your life. If he just did it we would forget where the grace is coming from

this was a big issue for me, however I began to understand that the act of praying is a form of meditation, affirmation and manifestation. I no longer "pray", but I do meditate affirm and manifest.

Matthew 7:7-11 covers this pretty well. God is our father. He knows our needs but expects us to ask for things just like we expect our kids to.

I don’t think praying implies what you are saying. Praying is simply a human speaking to the Divine. Not all prayers are prayers of requests. Prayer isn’t a contract and shouldn’t be used exclusively for requests anyways. It’s like a kid asking his mother for food. She knows the kid needs food, but the kid still asks. And that is ok.

Interesting question…it actually came up at Mass. Here is the message we received… prayer helps you establish a relationship with God, it is not just for asking God for what you want. In addition, God does care but knows more about what you really need than you do.

No faith is a two-way street. You have to have a relationship with God in order for your needs to be fulfilled and that involves talking to him which is what prayer is.

I never understood asking other people for prayers during hardship. like shouldn't your own be enough? does God have like a tally system, he needs so many before he intervenes..

Eh, if you are only praying for what you will get I can see that viewpoint. But if you view it as a relationship with a creator, its an opportunity for communication and self expression. Such as expressing appreciation for what we already have.
