Poke a small hole under the brim of your can. As you put stuff in the air pushes out there and it expands naturally.

Done it to mine about two years ago with the hole it comes out easily too but my hole I drilled is 1/2 inch

I drilled a hole in mines and the weight of the trash pushes the air out just wiggle now and then for a full fill
