And the funniest thing is that they have been doing this for decades and you still buy xbox, windows and Microsoft products, making them the biggest company over Apple, but no, Apple is the evil one (I’m not saying they are not, I’m just saying Microsoft has done worst since their launch). The problem is that we treat LLMs like they “think”, which they do not. They predict. Every answer is a statistically optimized continuation of a pattern learned from vast amounts of human text. That means the model reflects what is common, not what is correct. A pattern can be frequent without being ideal. When we expect an LLM to reason like a human, we create unrealistic expectations and set ourselves up for disappointment. The model is powerful, but its power comes from recognizing and synthesizing patterns, not understanding them. To use AI well, we have to treat its outputs as structured guesses, not truths, and apply human judgment to evaluate them.

I cancelled my office365 sub (painfully) and made a point of telling MS is because the copilot integration is poor quality, intrusive, not transparent enough, and just plain unwanted. But Docs has AI integration too so I guess it's back to my copy of 1996 Wordperfect and Scrivener.

I work with LLMs professionally. Every AI feature in Windows is getting disabled as soon as possible. They are the wrong solution for the problem MS are trying to solve.
