God speaks because he’s a good God who chooses to speak. It’s not about you being inherently “good enough” to hear; it’s about allowing God to position you in a place to hear. Like everything else, heart posture and faithful surrender trumps everything. God desires to speak to those who have a heart to listen. David had a heart to listen (most of the time… great example of what happens when you take yourself out of that position and put your selfish desires about God’s word - even great men have fallen short because of this). So my question is, do you have a desire to listen? If so, then ask Him to speak and trust him to respond. Run to Him and flee from sin, trusting that, in this process, He will speak and draw you close enough to hear.
