@miahhcarter: Women are being dismissed, misdiagnosed and left in pain for YEARS and I’m one of them. ! 💔❤️‍🩹 I’ve done every scan, every referral, sat in A&E for 24 - 30 hours at a time, cried in waiting rooms, been told my symptoms were “normal”, “just hormones” “lose weight” “take painkillers” I even had a male gynae tell me “ I know how you feel.” And then on top of all that… I was put to sleep for a full investigation for endometriosis, and they did the wrong surgery. This isn’t an isolated story. It’s happening to women everywhere young women, bigger women, neurodivergent women, women of colour we’re ALL being overlooked. 84% of women say they haven’t been listened to by healthcare professionals. Only 2% of medical research funding goes to female reproductive health. And conditions like endometriosis take an average of 9 years to diagnose. How is that acceptable in 2025 ⁉️ I’m tired of being quiet. I’m tired of women being brushed off. I’m tired of girls thinking their pain is “just part of being a woman.” Our pain is REAL. Our experiences are REAL. And we deserve proper care, proper research, and to be taken seriously the first time we speak not the tenth. I’m using my platform to talk because nothing changes if we stay silent. If my story can help one girl feel less alone, or push this conversation into the rooms where decisions are made, then I’ll keep talking. Women deserve answers. We deserve dignity. We deserve better.
