Also I’d think to add Atsushi to the list, while not forwardly religious he has a lot of symbolism in his character. From the orphanage to Shibuzawa’s ‘nickname’ for him..(angel) and just his character vs. say Akutagawa or Dazai’s character, is very heaven vs. hell or dark vs. light

I feel like akutagawa is also another one. Like in his fight with Nathaniel when he says “call me Diablo”. Since all most all the characters are based off of real authors, and the irl akutagawa struggled with religion and who he was (don’t quote me on that, that’s js what i remember reading abt). So someone struggling to understand himself and w religion fighting a very religious character. (Sorry if this is hard to understand. I didn’t rlly know how to explain it)

I still can't make up the reason or any theory why did bones animate hidden crosses (crucifixes) in the background of certain scenes (ex; when Atsushi was in the orphanage in the wall of the cell) it wasn't in the manga, any theories?
