Could this be due to inflation driving affordability to Walmart?

Walmart has a very diverse variety of goods. Groceries, electronics, seasonal, clothing, garden, hardware, sporting goods, auto parts, etc. Something for everyone. It's like Sears, K-Mart and Kroger all in one. One stop shopping.

We also saw people shopping at Walmart to help out food pantries. High income earners will go to Walmart to fill up their carts for food pantries. This was happening all over the country.

Let us remember that Walmart is one of the country’s biggest welfare recipients by underpaying its workers, denying benefits by ensuring worker full time hours, and more.

I’m surprised, Walmart must be squeezing the hell out of their vendors to maintain margins. Higher income consumers trading down to shop at Walmart, while good for Walmart, it also signals problems for the US economy, typically higher end consumers don’t trade down unless they are forced to, ad they may have less income to spend on higher end brands.

They’ve locked everything up and are actively hostile towards their customer base. They converted all the good parking to parking for only orders or handicapped parking lots. I only shop there when I have a prescription. I go to Safeway and shop the sales. I spend less.

from an out sider I believe what I see by shopping at retailers your spot on . Do to the riseing cost and economic issues challenging all consumers every one is looking for the cheapest alternative when they go to a store . Walmart has always been that alternative so more and more people are useing it to there advantage as well Amazon does the sane so more abd more people headed that way as well . if they economy picks up and gets better this may or may not change time will tell .

don't know why you're really surprised. And many many areas, Walmart is the only store within if you're a hundred miles. And Target targets just more expensive and people don't have the money. When you don't have competition no one has choice. That's why monopolies are bad for people. No choice, competition, research and development, that's all gone when one or two stores dominate cities and small towns or pretty much Walmart's total domain since they put out mom and pop stores.
