Doing ìbọrí (orí feeding) 🙇🏾 What is orí? It always challenging to explain what Orí is in English because it's so many things at once. You chose your orí in heaven before you were born which is essentially choosing your destiny. It is also a personal deity that every single human being has. Some people refer to it as your higher self. It is the number one determiner of your success or failure in life before any Òrìṣà which is why it's so important to keep it healthy. How do we keep it healthy? 1 We keep it healthy through giving it routine offerings like we would any other Òrìṣà. There's a whole ritual that we do dedicated specifically to Orí feeding which you can see in the video. It involves many deep prayers, songs, chants, etc., and of course giving offerings both blood and non blood. Your orí may also request different offerings at different times because each of these offerings represents something different spiritually, i.e., cat fish, pigeon, guinea fowl, etc. In case, her Orí requested catfish. 2 The other way we keep our Orí healthy is by making sure that we are living in alignment with our destiny. We may know through intuition which things are in alignment or not in alignment, but Ifá is a great tool for knowing what is in the best interest of your Orí/destiny overall in life and at any given time.
