@drsakintayo: Yesterday was International Men’s Day, and while touring his current development, @sujimoto81 shared some powerful advice for men. What truly makes you a man is your ability to be resilient. You cannot afford to give up. Others may give up on you, but you must never give up on yourself. Men are rarely celebrated, which is one of the reasons the suicide rate among men is higher. So celebrate yourself. Face your mountains and keep moving forward. It brings me joy to see work continue on this project, and to know that those who have fully paid will receive their keys by the end of December. I’m genuinely happy for @sujimoto81. Many people told me I was taking a brand risk by standing with him during his moment of crisis. But I find it strange that we now live in a world where people want to eat and drink with you only when things are good, yet refuse to stand by you when things get tough. Why has betrayal become “sexy” in today’s world? Why is loyalty no longer valued? I am not helping any investor of @sujimoto81 by refusing to encourage him. I encourage him so he can stay strong enough to fulfill his promises to his investors — and I’m glad to see that work is progressing steadily. If entrepreneurs are going to survive in Nigeria, we must build a new culture of standing by each other in moment of crisis and not only when things are fine. The level of luxury @sujimoto81 delivers would make him a rock star in Dubai, the UK, or anywhere else. Unfortunately, we often fail to recognize talent here at home, and that’s a shame. Is he perfect? No. But who is perfect except God? My final words to him last night were: Hold your head high. You may have made business mistakes, but when you play at a high level, such things happen. Still, I am certain you will not only overcome — you will look back years from now and realize, just like Joseph, that this very crisis was the tool God used to turn everything around for your good. From one real estate mogul to another — I respect the detail @sujimoto81 puts into his designs, and I trust God on his behalf. Dr. Stephen Akintayo
