Thank you for talking about this. I was raised by my mom and my grandparents too. I’m 33 now and my grandparents have passed and I genuinely feel like an orphan. It’s hard. I don’t even know how to talk about it. I don’t even care about life accomplishments anymore because I can’t share it with them.

I think that’s something that people who don’t know this feeling don’t understand, it’s not being ungrateful for what you have and that doesn’t mean that feeling is not valid and you can still feel like your missing something and be grateful for what you have. 💕

Haven't seen or spoken to my dad in 10 years. I'm 29 with 2 kids now. Nobody ever talks about how hard it is to grieve someone who is still alive.

I’ve been no contact with my mom for 10+ years and just went full no contact with my dad this year, I completely understand your feelings. I started therapy this year which has helped me understand and validate my feelings 🤍

I completely understand. I find myself in those moments as well. I only have my mom and my papa now since my nana passed away a few years ago. But I also have 2 sisters. I don't always know how to put it into words either. But knowing that one day my papa and mom won't be around anymore hurts so incredibly much. I've made peace with not having my father in the picture but there are days where I hit a life changing milestone and I think to myself "he is missing so much.."

I'm glad you did speak about it thank you cause I can relate! I grew up with an absent father and an emotionally unavailable mother 🙄 so both was hard I met my dad a few years ago when I was 28 which was nice but he still doesn't bother he hasn't taken any accountability for not being there and yeah doesn't want that awkward conversation! So I'm here girly if you ever need to talk about it 🥰

THIS!! I’ve always wished there was some type of media talking about absent parents! How a child should NEVER have to chase after their own parents or have to watch all their friends and loved ones, even their own mothers get to have fathers who actively choose them!! It’s hard but THANK YOU for speaking on this!!
