@ann.lacey2: I am not someone who ever wants to be in the spotlight, EVER. Ask me to be in a photo and I’m probably going to look down at the ground or off to the side or just try to get out of it altogether. If I don’t have a hat on- good luck. Funny enough though when it comes to the horses - I’ll get in front of the camera all day long and say what needs to be said. It’s not about me at that point - it’s about them. This group of photos Sarah took and put together are moments I cherish; Buffy, Frederick and Puppy. Symbols of the WHY I do what I do. All three have three totally different experiences with this industry. Buffy: Buffy’s mom was sent through the auction. When she was born her mom rejected her leaving me to become her mom. She is now part of my heart and family. Frederick: are there even words for him? He was my soulmate and I have tears in my eyes even writing his name. He worked for the Amish until he was too crippled due to neglect, to work anymore. Then traded around for money for his size. All to his detriment. He will forever be my heart. Puppy: Puppy was the first horse my sister ever rescued. She saw him in the Direct Ship field and it was an immediate ‘he’s coming with us’. To have my family be such a supportive part of what my heart is screaming at me to do means more to me then I can even put into words. This image of our eyes speaks SO MUCH to me. It’s so powerful for so many reasons. Thank you Sarah for capturing all three of these, along with ALL the beautiful photos and moments. I’ll never be able to thank you enough.
