Darkness climbs the ramparts of weatherworn citadels, seeps through courtyards where moss outlives memory, and settles over pastures that seem older than language itself. Twilight here behaves like a living organism, patient and deliberate, binding this land to its own unfading mythology. Lore saturates every contour of the region. In the forests above Sighișoara, elders once murmured about moroi who slipped between realms, restless reflections of the living. Many of the old Saxon watchtowers were built with ascension slots angled toward the moon, their design rooted as much in superstition as in defense. Across these valleys stand nearly two hundred fortified churches, their thick walls holding both grain and ritual, their carved symbols meant to bewilder wandering spirits. Even the ancient corridors of the Turda salt mines were believed to breathe warnings, subtle drafts that miners interpreted as omens long before science sought explanations. Walk these paths after dusk and the silence feels articulate, rich with implication, as though the land practices its own form of memory.
