Perhaps you got a job offer but you don’t really want to leave your current job. The only reason you were looking is because you want to make more money. So why don’t you use this job offer to get more money from your current boss?    When you receive a job offer always say, “Thank you! Is this negotiable?” You should always negotiate a job offer because companies never lead with their best offer.    🧑🏽‍💻Then once you have a formal job offer call your boss and tell them that you have a job offer. Tell them you weren’t looking; they recruited you and the money is too good to turn down.    💵Now, if your current company doesn’t want you to leave, they will match your new job offer and counter you.    If all you wanted was to make more money and you really like your job, then accept the counteroffer and stay. If you realize that what you really want is a new opportunity, accept the new job and go there.    🧐Here are the 3 most common questions I get asked when I teach people how to negotiate their job offer   1️⃣ What if they lie? -Why would they lie? They just interviewed 50 people, and they decided that you are the person for the job. Why wouldn’t they hear you out and see if they can give you what you want? Also, if what you want is an extra $5k on salary or 10 more days PTO they will do it if they can because they want to fill the position and move on in the same way you want to get a job and stop your job search.    2️⃣ What if they say it’s not negotiable? If they say it’s not negotiable, then you know you got their best offer and you need to then decide if you can live with that offer. If they won’t or can’t negotiate the ball is now in your court. Take 24 hours to think about it.    3️⃣ If I try to negotiate or if I ask for more money won’t they just take my offer away? They will only take the offer away if you lie, misrepresent yourself or negotiate unprofessionally. Trust me, if they have made you an offer, they want to try to make it work and you would have to do something stupid to get them to take your offer away.    📘For 10 Questions to Ask When you Receive a Job Offer to Get More Money, Get an Interviewology Profile, use code Spring2025 and good luck in your upcoming salary negotiations.    #salarynegotiations #joboffer #joboffernegotiations #jobInterview #career #salary #negotiate #jobsearch #careeradvice #corporate
