My foster mom took me back 4 times and even after the finally reunification with my bio family, she was the only there to hold my hand when I gave birth to my children. I’m almost 30 now and she’s still the only one here.

My fosters took me back three times when I was 15. Im now 18 and visit them often and I spend every holiday with them i even helped my foster momma after she had knee surgery. I am so so thankful for my fosters.

As a child protection worker this brought me to tears. Reunification is so hard and it’s not always successful. Every child who has to experience returning to foster care would be so much better off if this is what it could look like. Thank you and your family for being a safe and loving space ♥️

Y’all in the comments are something else. The goal of foster care is REUNIFICATION. You cannot just adopt someone else’s child because you would like to. Fosters provide safe homes TEMPORARILY for biological families to get the safety, security and support they need to reunify because being with their family is what is best for the children; just ask former foster children. Of course there are cases where reunification isn’t possible, but “adopt this child” comments are never helpful to foster parents, their bio/foster children, or the parents in the reunification process.

As a mother whos baby was taken and fostered for those months while i was getting my life together, i am forever grateful to foster parents! I got my daughter back when she was 6m old. She is almost 3 and still visits the women who fostered her regularly! That is her Nana and always will be!! We are family now! 🥰🥰🥰
