It was never a professional degree it was just a degree with professional prices. The amount of nurses who don’t understand how this is going is very alarming.

It’s not a professional degree though. It’s only a 2 or 3 year degree.

Nursing can be learned on the job. It doesn’t require a professional degree. It’s more about the corrupt educational system than anything.

As a Canadian, it seems even I understand what changing the classification was. It was in terms of loans and funding. Nothing about being a professional. Or is that inaccurate? Social media is so confusing

I get that it might sting to hear that it isn’t considered “professional” but it’s just a technicality at the end of the day!! This is a good thing

I wish all the nurses posting this would actually read and understand what it is actually about. Plus the doctors do the work anyway. only thing ive ever had a nurse do in 38 years and 4 surgeries is give me an IV and ask the doctor what to do next ✌

Nursing has never been considered a “professional” degree. But they used a loophole to allow students to take out up to $200k for nursing degrees. The only reason schools charge that much, is because they know there’s student loans to cover this. Lowering the caps will force schools to lower tuition costs, which is a good thing. Schooling was actually affordable until student loans became a thing. Young people have been duped into thinking they can afford $100k in student loans with a degree that pays $75k per year. Of course nurses are important! But this is all about lowering cost of tuition, so don’t panic people!
