Imam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said: “It’s not allowed for anyone to lose hope in Allah’s mercy, even if his sins are very great.” (Majmū‘ al-Fatāwa, 16/19) This statement isn’t just a reminder it’s a command that reshapes how we view Allah and ourselves. Losing hope is not an emotional weakness; it’s a spiritual misunderstanding. It means you’ve begun to measure Allah’s mercy by the size of your sins instead of the greatness of His forgiveness. Ibn Taymiyyah’s words tell us that despair is not humility it’s actually a form of pride. Because when someone says, “I’ve sinned too much,” what they’re really saying is, “My sins are greater than Allah’s mercy.” And that’s never true. No matter how far someone has gone, Allah’s door remains open until their final breath. Every person has moments they regret things they wish they could erase. But Islam was never built on perfection it was built on returning. Allah doesn’t expect us to never fall. He expects us to come back every time we do. When a person loses hope, it’s not only because of the weight of their sins it’s because they’ve begun to see Allah through their own weakness, not through His perfection. They think like humans do, that too many mistakes mean you’re no longer worthy, that forgiveness has limits. But Allah is not like His creation. He forgives even when no one else would. He accepts you even when you can’t accept yourself. No one is too far gone for Allah. The worst sin is not disobedience it’s believing that Allah will no longer forgive you. Because when you lose hope, you close the very door that He promised would always stay open. The mercy of Allah is not earned it’s invited through repentance, tears, and sincerity. The same Lord who created you knowing you would sin also created repentance knowing you would need it. That’s how complete His mercy is. You don’t have to be pure to be forgiven you become pure through turning back. Allah’s mercy is not earned by perfection, but by sincerity. You don’t need the right words, you just need a heart that wants Him again. So when you feel unworthy, remember: Allah is not waiting for a flawless servant He is waiting for a sincere one. Despair closes the heart, but hope revives it. And as long as your heart still turns to Him, no matter how slowly, you are already on your way back to His mercy. So even if your sins reach the sky, remember: His mercy is higher. The only true failure is to stop seeking it. #islamicreminder #muslimtiktok #itiswhatitis
