@hashan_di: The Victoria Dam is one of Sri Lanka’s most significant hydroengineering achievements, located on the Mahaweli River near Teldeniya, approximately 20 km from Kandy. Completed in 1984 as part of the Mahaweli Development Programme, it stands as the tallest dam in Sri Lanka, featuring an impressive 122-meter height and a length of around 520 meters. Designed as a double-curvature arch dam, Victoria Dam efficiently harnesses water to generate hydroelectric power, contributing substantially to the national grid through the Victoria Power Station, which produces up to 210 MW of electricity. Beyond power generation, the reservoir supports irrigation, agriculture, and regional water management.
