I'd get another shaft just make sure it's from the same style axle. I think you can get the stub out

It's not worth swapping in an unknown axle. If you have a good axle with good pinion bearings, good carrier bearings, pinion seal that doesn't leak, good wheel bearings and good wheel seals just order the right axle. The devil you know is 100% better - professional mechanic

They used two different rears in those. Some have the 14 bolt 9.5 and some had the GM 8.5 10 bolt. The later 8.5 is actually 8.6 lol. Count the cover bolts and make sure the Donor matches. G80 is the GM code for Posi and that’s a gov lock Unit with those centrifugal weights!

Can you find dimensions anywhere so you can take a vernier caliper with you? Like shank diameter, tooth count, etc

I had the same problem in my Escalade the rear differential had a hole in the cover and leaked all the oil out I was on the highway 5 minutes form the house so I just drove it home but I just bought a hole axel housing because it was the best and cheapest option because it would cost more to rebuild it then put a other one that is working and not leaking
