After the rise of Black liberation and Womanist theology in the 1960’s and 1970’s into the early 1980’s we see a concerted effort of “evangelical” white ministries and ministers(under the rising umbrella of the “moral majority”) working to infiltrate Black church institutions in order to dismantle or absorb them.

Maaaan. On a Focus on the Family mission trip as a teen in the ‘90s, the *only* Catholic girl confided to me on the trip that she’d JUST realized we were in Latin America to convert Catholics, and she was grappling with the implications of this. I think about her all the time 💔

I got taken on a church trip to mexico to build an orphanage, only the materials hadnt arrived we spent the whole time hiking "keeping an eye out for rebel camps" and having meals with landowners. the leaders of the trip were lockheed execs this was a month or 2 before CIA agent Fox was elected president
