Swede here Most of the houses in Italy and Spain lack proper isolation. It's colder inside than outside during the winter.

I'm from Finland and the coldest winter I had was the year I spent in Italy (Veneto). Houses has no proper insulation, so I was freezing constantly.

I just bought a house here in Italy and the insulation is terrible. The heater can’t keep up and it’s honestly frustrating. And it’s a fact: when the sun is out, it’s actually warmer outside than it is inside the house. It feels like the place traps the cold instead of the heat.
