I guess none of us want to be just a number in the system. No one wants to be defined by a figure they carry - so why are we doing it to ourselves? Why do we identify with our follower count, our school grades, the numbers in our bank accounts? I mean look at me: barely anyone of you knows me really. You can only assume that I am this and that. That I am a good and loving human, father, friend,.. but how can you know? The numbers on my social media are something like a social proof. „If so many people like him, he needs to be a good human “. But do we really know? No. You don’t know anything about my human failures. You don’t see my anger, my rage, my sadness, my darkness. Thank God I have so many followers - because they polish the imperfection and make it shine. But what about those who never got lucky with a few viral videos? Their good reputation doesn’t precede them in the same way. Such a pity. Because in the modern world I see so many people putting so much value into numbers, that don’t show much about the true soul of a human. Don’t get me wrong - I’m aware of all the effort, pain, and dedication it took to get to where I am now. I’m deeply grateful to myself and to everyone who supported this journey. I I just think we should be cautious about becoming too attached to anything, especially to numbers that only hold value because we’ve all agreed to believe in them.
